The Farmington Memorial Day Parade is back!

The Groves Walker American Legion Post 346 and the Xemplar Foundation are proud to once again sponsor the Farmington Memorial Day Parade. The parade will take place at 10:00am on Monday, May 29, 2023 on Grand River Avenue, between Orchard Lake Road and downtown Farmington. The event ends with a ceremony at Memorial Park at Grand River Avenue & Oakland Street, followed by a free community luncheon hosted at the American Legion and sponsored by Weingartz Farmington Hills and the Xemplar Club.

Xemplars will meet at Plaza Veterinary Hospital on Mooney Street at 9:00am to distribute over 4,000 American flags along the parade route to salute our participants. Please join us as we remember and honor our active duty military, veterans, first responders and fallen heroes.

In the interest of public safety, our "Annual" golf outing was not held in 2020 or 2021. The event returned in 2022, and now we are proud to present the 18th Annual Xemplar Foundation Signature Classic Golf Outing, held on June 28, 2023 at the Farmington Hills Golf Club. Formerly known as the Jon Grant Memorial Golf Outing, it has always been held on the last Wednesday in June. Registration is now open at www.xemplargolf.com and is capped at 120 golfers. We hope you can join us for this sell out event!

Once each year, we welcome a large contingent of guests from local charitable and non-profit organizations for our traditional "Donation Day". Thanks to the hard work of our members and incredible generosity of our supporters all year long, we were able to help 24 different local community service organizations. This year's recipients at the Xemplar Foundation Donation Day received a total of more than $20,000 and included:

Our guest for lunch this week is Dr. Christopher Delgado, Superintendent of Farmington Public Schools which serves approximately 9,000 students pre-K to age 26 in the metro-Detroit area.

After graduating from Michigan State University, he began his career as a high school and middle school Spanish teacher in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Six years later he returned to Michigan as an elementary and highs school Spanish teacher in Birmingham, MI. His teaching tenure was followed by 18 years in administration, including roles as high school associate principal, middle school principal and deputy superintendent. He completed his Bachelors and Masters of Educational Administration from Michigan State University, and his Educational Specialist and Doctorate from Oakland University.

He has been married for 29 years to his wife, Leslie, who is an instructional coach in Birmingham Public Schools. They have three children. chris delgado
