Terry Seraceno is the Founder and Chairperson for Dr. Paws Inc. Pet Therapy. They are the largest pet therapy non-profit organization in Michigan. Dr. Paws staffs over 120 locations in Michigan, along with Children's Hospital of Michigan. They bring trained dogs to hospitals, rehabilitation and senior centers throughout Michigan to aid patients and residents in the healing process. The organization started 16 years ago with 2 dogs, and was recently invited to attend the North American International Auto Show Charity Preview.
Terry started pet therapy at Oakwood Hospital in 1985, where she worked for 11 years in Cardiology and Medical Education. She is currently a Staffing Secretary for Nursing Administration at Botsford Hospital, where she has been for 16 years. Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills was a pilot program for Dr. Paws Pet Therapy. Terry has helped test and qualify over 1200 dogs, placing them on over 3000 teams. Doctor Paws Inc is run entirely by volunteers and does not charge any fee whatsoever. There are currently more than 400 active members.
